Het mysterie van de L7788, Bart M.Rijnhout, 1979.
L7788 KX-E was a Vickers Wellington MkIA aircraft of RAF 311 Czechoslovak bomber squadron destined to bomb Berlin on Sept 23, 1940. Bombing was succesful but the aircraft was damaged and had to land in Holland enroute back to England. The crew (P/O Trojacek, Sgt Zabrz, P/O Prochazka, Sgt Kunka, P/O Kilian, Sgt Knotek) was taken into captivity except for Sgt Kunka, the wireless operator, who tried to shoot himself to avoid detention and died in hospital. Germans repaired KX-E (L7788) and used the aircraft to train their fighters' attacks against it. For more details see M.Pajer's book Kridla miri na Nemecko, a highly recommended, interesting and accurate reading in Czech.
